Secrets, Roses and Tantrums

We sat at the river bed. Hoping to see the ripples as the stone skidded across.
Sometimes it hit and run across. Most times it drowned with a gulp and hit the bottom
The sky was blue with clouds floating with no intention of running across the sky
Gently I wondered how long it would take us to talk.
To discuss why we had to met at this spot?
This very spot, we discovered how we feel
The spot we came to celebrate and cry over our achievements and disappointments
‘So this is difficult for me to say but I think I should say it and get it over with’
‘Ok’. Feeling like I was going to blow. It was hard enough finding someone like me. Was this a breakup?

We met at church, funny right because I am not the most religious person plus people judge in churches buh I went and just a simple hello and we clicked.
Talking on relationships, which we both felt was a big fuss cuz what the bible was asking and what we later on engaged in was ………
There wasn’t a moment we didn’t talk to each other, a message we didn’t instantly reply. I.M got a whole new definition.
Little hangouts turned into dates and when we kissed by the river it was weird.
‘Didn’t you like it? I thought you felt the same way about me? We have a lot in common and you get all the sub text and references? I am sorry I feel so embarrassed.’
‘I do like you, this is just new to me, the whole really liking someone and wanting to date them.  I wasn’t sure so I felt I should let you show it first so I don’t make a fool of myself.’
We kissed like no one’s business, thankfully the spot was empty. A late afternoon date ended up an evening date.

‘Are you breaking up with me? I fucking can’t believe it. What happened to there is no one like you and you mean the world to me?’
‘I’m so sorry, truly sorry. I wish words could make it any less hard buh it doesn’t. Yes you mean the planet to me. You had my back when I was breaking down over my test and even though you had your own drama, you still went out of your way to….’
‘Are you fucking kidding me? Is that your argument? Telling me the good I brought into your love. Really nice, the way you choose where it started to end it.’
‘No I didn’t plan it to be today nor at this spot but maybe this place is better. If we were at your place, it would have turned into an Eminem song’
‘Humph, you piss me off. Now you bringing in Shady,’
‘Why are you being this way? I am truly sorry. I wish I didn’t have to but it is out of my hands now’
‘Really. So whose hands are you going to be rubbing against?’

For a moment, there was silence. Seems I had hit the core of the issues. The wind somehow rustled some leaves and it was hot even though the wind and the breeze blew over us.
‘I am getting married. My parents think it is the best thing for me. I have been on a few dates and I really like her’
‘Did you say her? You getting married to a girl’
‘Yes my dear boyfriend I am. Maybe you will get one too if you explore. Got to go now. I am soo sorry once again.’
‘Well hope you find happiness or something’
He was already gone by the time my well wishes left my tongue. So just in two years I had met, opened up and loved another man and I had been dumped for a girl.

Sitting alone by the river bed, the stones just falling in.
The ripples a sad reminder of what used to be
The wind blowing the clouds away from the sun and my face burning as I stared into it.
Harshly I wondered how I would ever heal
As my gay lover was in the arms of a loving woman
My only heart had been broken by my one true love.
The man who will never be mine again.
